It’s funny how things have changed, isn’t it? It wasn’t all that long ago that most people lived close to their families – maybe even just down the road. But these days, it feels like everyone’s all over the place. Friends in different cities, family in other countries. It’s just how life is now.
That’s probably why weddings feel so different lately too. It’s not just about two people getting married – it’s also one of those rare times everyone gets to be in the same place again. And at the wedding Hog Roast Ravensworth most recently catered for, that really stood out.
Hog Roast Ravensworth was lucky enough to cater for a lovely couple who seemed just as thrilled to be surrounded by their loved ones as they were to be getting married. Some of the guests came from nearby towns, others travelled hours. A few even flew in from the United States, which says a lot. You could tell this meant the world to them.
Making the day even more special, the celebrations took place at the family’s holiday home. The sky was a bit grey, but it stayed dry – good enough for an outdoor setup. And, once Hog Roast Ravensworth got going, it was all hands on deck.
Ours is the kind of food that always draws a crowd, and this time was no different. We served up our signature hog roast with crackling, stuffing, and applesauce on the side. Alongside that, we had roasted salmon with lemon and herbs for those after something lighter. And yep, we had plant-based options sorted too. At Hog Roast Ravensworth, no one is ever left out!
As well as the mains, there were plenty of sides, fresh bread rolls, wraps, and a mix of sauces. Guests could build their plates however they liked. And, judging by how fast everything went, we think we got it right!
But honestly, it wasn’t just about the food. The whole day had this laid-back, happy energy. People catching up, laughing, taking photos, grabbing seconds – it felt like more than a wedding. It was a reunion.
