A wedding anniversary isn’t just some date you circle on a calendar. It’s more like a little pause – a chance to look back on everything you’ve been through as a couple. The belly laughs, those late-night chats, the tough times too. But even more importantly than that, it’s about celebrating your own unique love story. Whether you’re marking one year, ten, or fifty, we believe every anniversary deserves to be celebrated properly.
Take Laurie and Kate, for example. They recently celebrated their silver wedding anniversary (that’s 25 years, if you didn’t know!). And, instead of a big fancy event, they kept things simple, cosy and close to home – literally!. They agreed on a relaxed garden party with their closest friends and family, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
For a start, they got super lucky with the weather. Warm and balmy, the kind of day that made their garden feel like a little getaway in the South of France, not quite North Yorkshire.
And the food? Hog Roast Hawes had it covered, making sure everything was spot on.
At Hog Roast Hawes, we always take catering seriously no matter what the occasion is. But with weddings and anniversaries, the stakes always feel a bit higher somehow. So, our catering managers arrived well before time, setting up and getting everything ready so the feast could go smoothly.
The hog roast was, as usual, the main character at this event. Hog Roast Hawes had spent hours slow-cooking the whole pig until it was tender and juicy on the inside, with that golden crispy skin everyone loves. The meaty main was served alongside sage and onion stuffing, classic fries mixed with sweet potato fries, fresh salads, and soft bread rolls – perfect for piling everything on.
For the vegan guests, we made BBQ-pulled jackfruit – smoky, sweet, and bursting with rich hickory flavour. Even the meat-eaters had a hard time telling the difference between the jackfruit and actual meat!
