Hog Roast Tyne and Wear Caters For 500 Smulders Staff!

Hog Roast Tyne and WearWhen it comes to building seriously impressive steel structures, Smulders is in a league of their own. With over 50 years of know-how under their belt, this international team has been designing, making, and putting together some of the trickiest projects you can imagine. From offshore wind foundations to civil engineering feats like Glasgow’s Renfrew Bridge, these folks really know their stuff.

Of course, being at the top of their game means the Smulders team works hard. And luckily for them, they know how to play hard too. At their Tyne and Wear facility, they have a tradition of celebrating all that hard work with massive staff luncheons – we’re talking hundreds of people gathered together, feasting like there’s no tomorrow.

That’s Hog Roast Tyne and Wear comes in. Having catered for Smulders before, we were their go-to when the next big lunch came up. Chris and Kayleigh took charge, and as usual, everything ran smoothly. They’ve got the knack – nay, superpower – for keeping a group of 500 people happy, fed, and smiling.

Speaking of 500 hungry mouths… that’s a lot of food! So Hog Roast Tyne and Wear was on-site at the crack of dawn to get everything ready. Aiming for a golden-brown crispy exterior and a soft and juicy interior, we cooked the free-range pigs low and slow over real flames for hours. Adding extra flavour to the pork, we served homemade sage and onion stuffing, crispy crackling and homemade applesauce, which brought a hint of sweetness to balance out the rich savoury flavours of the meat.

Hog Roast Tyne and WearBut of course, it wasn’t all about pork. We also catered for veggie and vegan friends with grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs, and even vegan pulled jackfruit sliders slathered in hickory BBQ sauce. On the side? Huge bowls of tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed greens, creamy coleslaw, and generous portions of sweet potato and classic fries – with all the sauces you could dream of.

By the time the plates were cleared, the room was full of happy, full-to-the-brim faces. Another event, another success for Hog Roast Tyne and Wear – and plenty of smiles to go around!
