Not many people would choose to get married at the place they work, but when you love your job as much as Nicola and Simon do, it makes perfect sense.
As joint managers of Foxhills Boarding Kennels & Cattery, the pair have poured blood, sweat, and tears into the place over the years, making more furry friends than they could count along the way, and a fair few human ones too. With so many good memories already tied up in the venue, and plenty of space to throw a proper party, saying “I do” here was never really up for debate – and we were properly chuffed when Hog Roast Selby got the call to handle the catering.

With the guest list revised up to 62, our team had to make a few last-minute tweaks to the menu ahead of the big day, but that’s never a problem for us. We’re always happy to shuffle things around where we can, because it’s about getting the day exactly right for our clients, not sticking rigidly to a plan on paper, and this flexibility really helped put the couple at ease.
After a genuinely heartfelt ceremony and photos in front of a horseshoe heart backdrop, guests had built up quite the appetite and were more than ready to eat. Lucky for them, Hog Roast Selby had turned up early, giving ourselves plenty of time to get a proper multi-course spread together. First up, canapés: roasted duck wraps and spring rolls, gourmet sausages with honey and wholegrain mustard, and bruschetta topped with ripe tomatoes were artfully presented on bamboo platters and served to guests as the party started warming up.

As for the main event, it probably won’t shock anyone to hear Hog Roast Selby brought out our signature hog roast. Served with stuffing, applesauce and crackling on soft buns, plus roasted new potatoes on the side, it was simple but properly delicious, and guests kept drifting back for more well into the afternoon. Meanwhile, grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs gave veggie and vegan guests just as much to enjoy, and to finish things off, we filled the buffet table with dainty plates of profiteroles and individual cheesecakes, ending the day on the sweet note it deserved.
Congrats once again, from all of us here at Hog Roast Selby. It was a pleasure being a part of your big day and we wish you a lifetime of happiness.
