While studying at university, many students will get the opportunity to attend their first formal ball as part of their studies, which is always a wonderful occasion. University balls may be hosted to celebrate the end of the term or academic year or to celebrate successful students and present awards. At Hog Roast Dalton-on-Tees, we can cater for any kind of academic ball, including this one!
On the 16th of July, Hog Roast Dalton-on-Tees catered for a spectacular event taking place at the University of Durham: University College’s June Ball. The June Ball is an incredible event, having been listed on Mastercard’s ‘Top Events Money Can’t Buy’ list and The Guardian’s ‘Top 100 Things To Do Before You Die’. The ball takes place each year for students and teaching staff at the incredible Durham Castle, and this year our team was on hand to cater for the occasion.
On the day of the event, our catering manager Steven arrived at the venue in the afternoon with the Hog Roast Dalton-on-Tees team. This allowed us plenty of time to slow-roast the hog to perfection and ensure that it was packed full of natural juices and flavours, before the 21:30 serving time. Once carved by our chef, the sliced pork was served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. For meat-free guests, we also provided halloumi and vegetable skewers as a nutritious meat alternative. Alongside the mains, the guests enjoyed homemade chips and a selection of fresh salad dishes. Overall, this created a delicious and varied menu for the 300 guests to enjoy. The catering was served buffet style to allow everyone to grab a plate from what we had to offer, letting us efficiently, serve such a large number of guests.
