If you’ve been following Hog Roast Penrith for any length of time, you’ll already know we’re hopeless romantics through and through. As cheesy as it might sound, we love love, and getting to play even a small part in someone’s wedding day never stops feeling like a privilege.
What actually makes weddings so special, you ask? Honestly, everything. For the couple, it’s a huge, public way of promising to build a life together. For the family and friends surrounding them, it’s a rare chance to gather round and support that step being taken. And for Hog Roast Penrith? There’s no greater honour than serving up the very first meal of someone’s marriage.
It also never stops amazing us how weddings manage to pull people together like nothing else. Faces you haven’t seen in years, people you barely get to speak to anymore, suddenly everyone drops everything to show up, even if that means flying halfway across the globe – which is exactly what happened at our most recent booking. With guests arriving from Canada, Australia, the Philippines and closer to home in North Yorkshire, 100 people gathered to celebrate one lovely couple’s big day at Into The Woods, Cumbria.
Set deep into the countryside with sweeping views over the Lakeland Fells and Eden Valley, this venue is genuinely something else. With luxury treehouses complete with wood-fired hot tubs and sprawling lawns perfect for open-air celebrations with a DJ stage set up, it suited the relaxed, easy-going wedding this couple had in mind – all it needed was one final touch. A proper menu to match.
That’s when Hog Roast Penrith stepped up to the plate (quite literally) serving up a classic hog roast with every trimming going, alongside tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, coleslaw and herby new potatoes. We also brought thirty portions of warm rice to the buffet, plus vegan-friendly BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls soaked in hickory sauce.
Everything came together beautifully, letting the couple fully soak up their celebration without a worry in the world. And as for the guests that had travelled across oceans to get there? The atmosphere – and the food – made the journey alone worth it.
