Hog Roast Whitby had the pleasure of being part of Chris and Lana’s wedding celebrations over the weekend, and what a magical affair it was! For this history-loving couple, their “something old” was a breathtaking Grade 1 listed building and former hospitium nestled in the picturesque landscapes of North Yorkshire. Surrounded by striking ruins and bathed in sunshine, this iconic venue provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s big day.
As a precaution against the unpredictable British weather (we all know how it is!), Chris and Lana had arranged for a marquee to accommodate their family and friends at this outdoor wedding.
With 100 guests and ancient abbey ruins as their witnesses, the couple exchanged heartfelt vows before sneaking off for private photos, leaving Hog Roast Whitby’s catering manager, Richard, to delight guests with a tantalising selection of refreshments and canapes.
Comprising handmade gourmet sausages, pan-seared fillet of beef, smoked Scottish salmon, mini quiche, and roasted duck, the canape selection was a feast for the senses. After these delicious nibbles had been polished off, the newlyweds returned to the festivities. Heartfelt speeches and toasts were shared, after which guests were invited to help themselves to the buffet.
Not needing to be asked twice, the guests eagerly flocked to the catering gazebo, where Hog Roast Whitby served up generous portions of pulled pork, crackling, stuffing, and applesauce, alongside whole-roasted free-range chicken with chipolata sausages and meat-free BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls. The choice of salads, coleslaw, and buttered new potatoes added an extra layer of flavour and appeal to the feast.
With ample food prepared and served, guests were free to help themselves to as much as they desired, ensuring everyone left with full hearts and satisfied appetites. And judging by the glowing reviews from every single guest, it’s safe to say that Hog Roast Whitby’s service and food quality exceeded expectations!
