For the last three decades, Hog Roast Danby has had the privilege of helping residents across Danby and beyond raise the bar on their celebrations. From weddings to christenings and corporate do’s, you name it, we’ve put our mark on it. But one of our favourite events to help cater for has got to be birthday parties. Seriously, we just can’t get enough!
So, when Julie got in touch recently and asked for our help celebrating her dad’s 70th, we were honoured – and excited.
Naturally, Julie wanted the day to be as epic as her old man, and went all out by hiring the event space at Danby Village Hall. Just a stone’s throw from Whitby, this gorgeous little community hub is tucked deep in the North Yorkshire moors, boasting stunning views of the countryside with ample space for all 70 guests, making it the perfect spot for Julie’s blowout.
Of course, as well as a cracking venue, Julie also organised a cracking spread! She had Hog Roast Danby’s best and brightest on hand to treat the partygoers to our classic hog roast. And when I tell you this feast was met with rave reviews, I’m not kidding!
Our catering manager, Jon, truly outdid himself with this buffet. The whole hog was cooked low and slow for hours until the meat was tender, juicy and falling off the bone. The skin? Crisp, bubbled and lightly salted for that extra pop of flavour. On the side, there was homemade sage and onion stuffing, applesauce and an abundance of gluten-free and wholemeal rolls and wraps for guests to pile everything onto as well as refreshing coleslaw and mixed salad. It was rich, hearty and the perfect prelude to a live band performance and a late night of partying.
Julie was over the moon with the quality of the food and the high standard of customer service Hog Roast Danby provided from the first point of contact right up to the event itself, which earned us another glowing testimonial for our collection.
